How are you?

"How are you?" although this phrase is on number 1 speed dial in my work vocab it is still a valid question. In my job asking this question and acting like you care is a daunting task a times. However; I feel that if I can at least ask the question with a decent tone of voice, it shouldn't be that hard for the person asked to give a valid, ANY valid, reply to this question.

Although I find this extremely rude, I believe that I understand why consumers today can not respond to these simple 3 words. It so happens that possibly as much as half of the retail workers in these United States no longer know how to ask the question, thus surly can not respond to it themselves when asked. Of course if so many can not ask to begin with than that must mean that people are actually out of practice in answering such a silly question. It simply breaks down to a time issue, apparently it takes to long to process this question and reply, even with a simple o.k. If everyone could take 5 seconds and give every person big or small the time of day I believe that many service problems will decrease and I may actually be able to tip wait staff without feeling like s/he should owe me money for time lost while waiting on a refills for 20 minutes while my mouth burns off from the peppers on the pizza.

No one seems to remember the Golden Rule these days, if you don't, Google it.

By the way, I'm doing alright.... and yourself?

The Beginning

A blog is something that I have been thinking about starting for sometime. Finally, I decided on a theme for this blog, thus allowing me to finally begin writing.

First, a little about myself: I am a male, mid-20s, married, father of 2. I consider myself Christian, but have struggled with this my entire life. I felt that a brief intro was needed.

About this blog: Although I am not yet sure that I will make daily post on this blog I believe at this point I will post often. The name "Losing Faith Daily" does not refer to Christian faith, that is something that I hold very personal which I will not bring up often in the blog. The title refers the losing faith in man kind. I have, for all my life, worked in the service industry in some form or another, and have in my short life grown to detest the actions of others enormously. DON'T LEAVE!! This is not just going to be a blog that I post rants a raves about my job in. I hope to have more than that for you to read. Although I feel that consumers (guest, customers, by which ever name they are the same people) and employees are swiftly falling into a deep pit of selfishness. I hope to bring these situations into the light and explain the injustices from both consumers and workers perspectives. Beyond the workplace I hope to also bring to light situations in public places that are highlight the growing rudeness in the US society today. Of course this blog will develop and become whatever it becomes, but at this time the previous goal is what I will be working for.
